First Year Engineering
Welcome

Thank you for visiting the OSU Solar Decathlon Team's website.  We are currently undergoing an extensive redesign pending approval of our new graphics in early July.  Please check back frequently, and contact us if you would like to be informed when the new site is available.

The OSU Solar Decathlon Team (OSUSDT) was formed in the spring of 2007. A group of students who were concerned about the lack of public knowledge regarding easy ways to use energy responsibly decided to write a proposal for entrance into the U.S. Department of Energy’s prestigious Solar Decathlon, a competition which challenges twenty universities from around the world to develop homes that achieve excellence in Architecture, Engineering, Market Viability and Sustainability.

OSUSDT is part of the Sustainable Living Initiative at the Ohio State University, a collaboration between students and faculty of the College of Engineering and the Knowlton School of Architecture. The current OSU team will compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon. The international competition is sponsored by the US Department of Energy, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

This is OSU's first entrance into the Solar Decathlon and the Team is very excited to have the opportunity to compete.
